WILLIAMSFIELD — Catherine A. "Kate" Lipps, age 81, of Williamsfield, Ohio, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, Pa.

She was born May 1,1932, in Lewisburg, W.Va., a daughter of David H. and Lorene (Hedrick) Sampson. She was a graduate of Lewisburg High School and moved to Williamsfield, Ohio, in 1965, after she married her husband, George A. Lipps, on April 3, 1965, in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Mrs. Lipps babysat for many years out of her home; and she enjoyed bowling with her husband in earlier years. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts.

She is survived by her husband, George A. Lipps of Williamsfield; son, Rodger Lipps of Williamsfield; daughter, Barb (Jim) Wood of Williamsfield; three grandchildren, Victoria Wood, Jason Hancock and Jimmy Wood; six great-grandchildren, Jake, Cori, Brooke, Breann, Chris, and Cody; and one great-great-grandchild, Mia; two sisters, Betty Sampson of Fairlea, W.Va. and Hazel Herdsman of Buffalo, W.Va.; and a brother-in-law, Bill McCutcheon of Southgate, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, May McCutcheon, Frances Sampson and Charlotte Persinger; and two brothers, Wilbur and Warren Sampson.

A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4th, at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio, with Pastor Lyle Lipps officiating. Burial will follow in West Williamsfield Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of Service, Tuesday, at the Funeral Home.
