GENEVA — Marilyn B. Ransome, age 86, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Geneva Shores Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Geneva.

Born March 10, 1927, in Cleveland, she was raised in North Ridgeville and moved to Eastlake with her husband John and their girls.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Marilyn enjoyed collecting cookbooks, sharing recipes, and there was never a cookie or sweet she could pass up. She never forgot a birthday, a face or a name. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and keeping in touch with lifelong friends.

Marilyn enjoyed working in the records department at Bank One for many years. She was always quick to share a funny poem, a silly song or the occasional inappropriate joke. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jill (Kirby) Laughlin of Gibsonia, Pa. and Melanie (Chuck) Lashley of Madison; eight grandchildren, Lauren, and Olivia Laughlin, Kelly (Eric) Jenkins, Kasey Lashley, Kristopher (Sara) Lashley, Katherine (Craig) Breedlove, Korbin Lashley and Konner Lashley; great-grandson, Luke Lashley; and her beloved dog, “Homer.” She is also survived by her honorary grandchildren, Rob (Lyndsay) Johnson and Conny Stock; and her honorary great-grandson, Robbie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ransome; granddaughter, Anna Ransome; and her parents, Charles and Agnes Brown.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, at BRUNNER SANDEN DEITRICK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, officiated by Pastor Michael Haury of Crossroads Community Church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Madison.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Funeral Home.
