JEFFERSON — Dorothy DeyErmand passed away at her Jefferson home, Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the age of 77. She battled a rare form of leukemia for four years that doctors said would defeat her in 3 months.

Born Nov. 20, 1935, to Arthur and Frieda (Wachs) Ream, Dorothy grew up in Cleveland where she met her husband, Lee DeyErmand whom she married in 1952. They later moved to the country and lived in Hartsgrove, eventually settling down in the one place where Dorothy always wanted to live, Jefferson.

Dorothy was a hard worker and retired from Hasco Industry in Jefferson. Prior to Hasco, she had worked at Ashtabula Rubber, Johnson Rubber, and Rae-Ann Nursing Home. Her real passions in life were much more creative than her day job. She loved planting a flower garden and seeing her tulips and daffodils come up in the spring and mums in the fall, which was her favorite season. She also enjoyed painting, ceramics, and card making. She loved to decorate her home for every season and was able to see the beauty in things when she slowed down. But most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Lee (Cheryl) DeyErmand and Larry (Trish) DeyErmand; six grandchildren, Brian (Jenna), Scott (Megan), Cory, Shawni, and Derek DeyErmand and Sarah (Stan) Glasky; sisters-in-law, Bonnie DeyErmand, Lenore Slovick, Linda Robinson, and Thelma Martin; brother-in-law, Raymond DeyErmand; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeyErmand was preceded in death by her husband, Lee DeyErmand on March 3, 2009; her brother, Wilbert Ream; her sister, Lavina Gyukery; and her parents.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. John Sheridan presiding. Burial will be in Hartsgrove Cemetery.

DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula is handling arrangements.
