MENTOR — Mary A. O’Connor, age 84, of Mentor, Ohio and formerly of Ashtabula, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.
Born May 30, 1929, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Weller) Cardwell. On Sept. 8, 1951, she married Leo B. O’Connor, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Mrs. O’Connor was a graduate of St. Joseph General Hospital School of Nursing, in North Bay, Ontario. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Ann McMahon; and her beloved husband, Leo.
Mary is survived by her eight children, Karen O’Connor of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Kathleen O’Connor of Strongsville, Ohio, Daniel O’Connor (Merry) of Weston, Fla., Michael O’Connor (Lisa) of Avon Lake, Ohio, Timothy O’Connor (Cheryl) of Diamond, Ohio, John O’Connor (Karen) of Cortland, Ohio, Patricia Boring of Mentor, Ohio and James O’Connor (Katherine) of Conway, S.C. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a dear sister, Gloria (Robert) Willis of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 21st, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Jose ph Worship Site, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Father Raymond Thomas presiding.
