THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Surrounded by her family’s love, Elizabeth Anne Coates peacefully went home on Saturday, August 17, 2013.

Born June 16, 1936, in Ravenna, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Emma Ruth (Dibble) Hart, she graduated from Townville High School and married her high school sweetheart, David L. Coates on June 26, 1954. They raised their family in North Kingsville, Ohio, before retiring to The Villages in Florida. She spent her final weeks in loving care at Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages.

Prior to her retirement in 1997, she worked 26 years in accounting for Plasticolors in Ashtabula Ohio. Prior to that time she served as the Village Clerk Treasurer for North Kingsville, Ohio.

Anne was a devoted wife and mother. She served her community as an American Heart Association volunteer, as a Girl Scout Leader and reaching out to families in need. She was an avid reader and enjoyed decorating and entertaining family and friends. She also loved flowers and found great joy in chocolate.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, David L. Coates; her four daughters, Linda (Mike) Newsom of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Lorrie (Chuck) Sweet of Phoenix, Ariz., Cindy (Chip) Stroup of Geneva, Ohio and Karen Clark of Estero, Fla.; 9 grandchildren, Meagan (Newsom) Broad, Michael and Mark Newsom, Stephanie (Fitchet) Nelson, Emma and Jennifer Fitchet, Benjamin Stroup and Rachel and Rebecca Clark; two great-grandchildren, Luke Broad and Anna Nelson; three brothers, Charles Hart of Maryland, Mike (Adrianne) Hart of Florida and Pat Hart of Florida; one sister, Ruth Wolverton of Florida; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son-in-law, Bradley K. Clark.

Viewing will be at the Lady Lake Chapel of BEYERS FUNERAL HOME on Monday, August 19th, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Anne’s Life at 12 Noon on Monday. Her final resting place will be in East Lake Cemetery, North Kingsville, Ohio.
