JEFFERSON — Everett L. Smith, age 91, of Griggs Road, Jefferson Township, died early Saturday morning, August 17, 2013, at Jefferson Healthcare Center.
He was born May 5, 1922, in Sheffield Township, the son of Roy and Lena (Smith) Smith and had been a lifelong resident of the Jefferson area. He was married to Berneta M. Monroe on July 9, 1967, in Winchester, Va.
Mr. Smith worked more than 30 years and retired from True Temper Corp.
He was a member of the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church and the Ashtabula Co. Wagon Train, where he served as Wagon Master for many years. Mr. Smith was a gentleman farmer and he enjoyed yodeling, singing, riding his bicycle and making maple syrup with the Smith family.
He is survived by his wife, Berneta; three children, Nancy White of Painesville, Larry (Rayann) Church of Jefferson and Kathryn (David) Root of Easthampton, Mass.; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; five siblings, Noble Smith and Lee Smith, both of Sheffield Township, Ruth Tanner of Jefferson and Arthur Smith and Grace Oeffner, both of Sheffield Township; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents and a son, Karl Smith preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Road, Jefferson, Ohio 44047, with Pastor Rick Havens officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church at the above address, envelopes will also be at the church.
