WILLOUGHBY — John M. "Tennessee" Wintle, age 83, went peacefully home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.

Born on Aug. 27, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from East Tech High School. As a young man he enjoyed and excelled in track, medaling in the 440 and 880. He was a patriotic man who loved his country. A Veteran, he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the Army in May of 1957.

John was a firefighter for the City of Euclid for many years and also a brakeman for Conrail Railroad retiring in 1994.

He loved Indy car racing, attending the Indianapolis 500 yearly and he loved to cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all he loved the Lord. He loved his family with a full heart and he will be forever missed.

Loving husband of 14 years to Marilyn (Boyer); dearly beloved and cherished dad to his daughters, Kim, Tracy (Tom) Latcovich and Ann Gayer; loving grandpa to Jessica Gayer; loving stepdad to Angela (Lonnie) Mead, Kim (Steve) Hawkins and Don (Kathy) Abrams; eight step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; uncle and great-uncle to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine Wintle; beloved wife, Ileen (Schmelz); and brother, Charles Richard Wintle.

Funeral Services are Thursday, Dec. 20th, at 11:30 a.m. at BRICKMAN BROS. FUNERAL HOME, 37433 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where family will receive friends Thursday Morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, on Friday.
