MENTOR — Bertha A. Blaney, age 97, a resident of Forman Road in Rock Creek since 1941, died Thursday morning, Feb. 27, 2014, at the Heartland of Mentor Nursing Home where she had resided the past four years.
She was born August 25, 1916, in Kinsley, Kan., the daughter of Lewis H. and Minnie A. M. (Quasebarth) Fahlsing. She was married to Roy E. Blaney in 1935 in Dodge City, Kan.
Mrs. Blaney retired in 1985 from Smith & Wesson after 16 years of service. She enjoyed crafts and ceramics.
Survivors include four children, Donald Blaney of Rock Creek, Grace Watkins of Greer, S.C., Kenneth Blaney of Mentor and Carl Blaney of Indiana; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy in 1978; two sons, Lewis and Frank Blaney; a grandson; a great-grandson; two brothers, Fred and Bernhart Fahlsing; and two sisters, Sophie Fahlsing and Lucile Schmidt.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Alisa Nierzejewski, Certified Celebrant leading the Service. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the Service.
