JEFFERSON — James A. Shreve Sr., age 69, of Jefferson, Ohio, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 4, 1944, in Orwell, Ohio, a son of Paul A. Shreve and Betty J. (Lake) Shreve Collins.
Formerly of New Lyme Township, James had been a resident of Jefferson for the past twelve years. He was employed for many years as a laborer for Local #245.
James was an avid hunter and fisherman; and he enjoyed going to auctions and doing small engine repair.
James is survived by his wife, Dawn M. (Headley) Shreve of Jefferson, whom he married Oct. 31, 2001; daughter, Diana (Cary) Dunford of Jefferson; son, James A. Shreve Jr. of New Lyme Township; daughter, Estella (James) Harden of New Port Richey, Fla.; daughter, Paula (Michael) Scott of Madison; daughter, Jenny (Robert) Bevins of Dorset; son, Billy (Kim) Shreve of Rock Creek, Ohio; son, Mark (Alicia) Shreve of New Lyme Township; daughter, Jill Shreve of New Lyme Township; son, Evan (Ashley) Headley of Jefferson; daughter, Shana Headley of Jefferson; daughter, Samantha Shreve of Jefferson; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L. (Pat) Shreve of Orwell and Joel (Betty) Shreve of Andover; one sister, Sandy (Leo) Dudley of New Philadelphia, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Rosa Shreve; and two brothers, David Shreve and Andrew Lake.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27th, from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio.
A Graveside Service will follow at 1 p.m. that same day at Brownville Cemetery in New Lyme Township, Ohio.
