ASHTABULA — Heidi Dietrich, age 80, of Dewey Road, Ashtabula, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born July 4, 1932, in Coswig, Germany, the daughter of William and Hewig (Braun) Eilers and had been a area resident since the late 1950’s when she and her husband, Kurt Hans Dietrich and their family escaped from East Germany and came to Ashtabula.
She had been a kindergarten teacher in Germany and after coming to Ashtabula she worked at Reliance Electric until her retirement. She enjoyed Bingo and gardening.
Surviving her are five children, Hubert (Suzanne) Dietrich of Ashtabula, Marlene (Doug) Canter of Kingsville, Loretta (Dane) Dietrich Groover of North Kingsville, Robert Dietrich of Florida and Marilyn (Scott) Niciu of Ashtabula; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Inga Steckleis of Coswig, Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kurt Hans Dietrich in 1993; and a daughter, Christa Monica Dietrich.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
