LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Barbara Brewer Shaffer, age 78, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Harmon Hospital.
Born in Erie, Pa. in August of 1934, she was the daughter of the late Clyde W. and Ethel Dunn Brewer. Barbara was a 1952 graduate of East High School and lived in Erie, prior to moving to Ashtabula, Ohio, and then to California in 1981 and Las Vegas in 1998.
Prior to retirement, she was employed with UniCare Insurance Co. in California and Carlisle’s Department Store in Ashtabula.
She attended First Presbyterian Church in Las Vegas, where she was a member of the church quilters. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and gardening.
The widow of Lawrence Shaffer, Barbara is survived by two sons, Stephen, wife Kimberly, and their children Matthew, Joseph and Caitlin, and Douglas, wife Natasha, and their children Jacob and Samantha; a daughter, Janice, husband Jon Fisher, and their children Nicholas and Eric; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were sisters, Alta Ricart, Marian Stent and Margaret Millet; and brothers, Wilber “Bud”, Elmer and Robert Brewer.
Friends and family may call at the DUSCKAS FUNERAL HOME, INC., West, 536 West 10th St., Erie, Pa., on Friday, April 12th, from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday, April 13th, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
