GENEVA — Robert E. Melville, age 88, of Geneva, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at Rae Ann Geneva Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Bob was born on August 6, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, to David G. and Hazel (Kennedy) Melville. He married Ruth A. (Faidiga) on May 29, 1967, in Jefferson. Serving our country in the U.S. Army during WW II, he received the Purple Heart Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.

As a Union Electrician, Bob worked for the IBEW Local 673, especially at the Perry Power Plant. In the 1960's, Robert started his own restaurant at Geneva and Geneva-on-the-Lake. He worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad.

He was a life-member of the Geneva V.F.W. Post # 6846; member of the Geneva F.O.E. Aries #2243;  and Geneva Masonic Blue Lodge (having just received his 50 year pin). He enjoyed playing golf, and collecting cars, of which, Bob was the first in the area to have a 1964 1/2 Black and White Mustang Convertible.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Sandra Menor and T.J. (Laney) Melville, all of Geneva; and granddaughter, Amanda Thompson of Mentor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a half-brother, Lawrence Phillis.

Per his request, a private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Manary, of The United Church, officiating. The Geneva V.F.W. Post #6846 Color Guard will provide Military Honors.

A Celebration of Life and Memories Buffet will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, March 15th, at the Geneva V.F.W., 76 Depot St., Geneva.
