ASHTABULA — Charles R. Sayre, age 81, passed away at home on Friday, March 28, 2014.
The son of Charles H. and Marguerite (Daugherty) Sayre, he was born on July 28, 1932, in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School. In 1952, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He was proud to serve his country and received an honorable discharge in 1955.
On May 18, 1963, he married Frances (Wilpula) Talamas and together they celebrated thirty-nine years of love and memories prior to her death in 2002.
Chuck retired from Society Bank as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer. During his career as a banker, Chuck helped many people reach their personal and professional goals. He encouraged those who wanted to further their careers in the banking industry to seek more education and professional opportunities. Chuck was proud to have been a banker who contributed to the success of his friends and clients.
Chuck enjoyed being outdoors and the beauty of nature. In his younger years, he did a little hunting and shared many memories with his friends and family.
Chuck encouraged his daughters to always work hard, choose a career that they loved, and to always do your best. He also encouraged his grandchildren to do their best in both academics and sports. He enjoyed watching their successes both in academics and on the field.
Chuck will be remembered for his work ethic, his devotion to his family and friends, and his strength and dignity through his final journey.
He is survived by his beloved daughters and their families, Ann (Maxime) Pean of West Hartford, Conn., Lisa (Charles) Birchall of Mentor and Julie (Wayne) Senita of Ashtabula; his grandchildren, Sabrina, Alex, Nicholas, Samantha, Kevin, Nicholas and Sidney; his brother, Richard Sayre of Columbus; and his loyal canine companion, “Shawn.”
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Frances on April 14, 2002; and his parents.
Calling Hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 31st, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Private Family Service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 1st, at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Cheryl Delaney, of Mentor Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
