Joseph W. Mayernick

ROAMING SHORES — Joseph William Mayernick, age 64, of Morningstar Drive, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at his home after 20 months in cancer treatment.

He was born March 15, 1950, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of Joseph A. and Grace E. (Hannon) Mayernick. He graduated from Weirton High School, and in 1972 from Bethany College, Bethany, W.Va. with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. The founding director of the Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County, he currently was the principal of Hermitage Capital Partners, LLC, negotiating financing and incentives for troubled companies. He held membership in many state and national economic development associations.

In addition to the love of his family and ever faithful dachshund, “Denny Crane,” he enjoyed the art of the financial deal, creating jobs, smoking cigars, boating and wine tasting.

He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Holly (Hill) Mayernick, whom he married Nov. 13, 1993; his daughter, Amanda (Nathaniel) Wente of Perry Township; two sisters, Cheryl (Alfred) Sweeney of Palm Coast, Fla. and Amy Dhayer of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Alan (Jennifer) Dhayer of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one nephew, Austin Cooper of Las Vegas, Nev.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Mayernick; his mother, Grace E. (Hanon) Mayernick Dhayer; and his step-father, Edward R. Dhayer.
