ASHTABULA — Donald C. Rose, age 91, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2013, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 20, 1921, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Anthony and Rachel (Pavolino) Rose. Donald graduated from Ashtabula High School class of 1940. He married the former Dorothy Roncaglione on Oct. 14, 1959.
Mr. Rose was retired from North American Rockwell with 25 years of service. Donny was a well known area musician playing nationally with the Clyde Lucas and Louis Prima Orchestras. He was also in several local bands and was known in the area as a fishing tackle and gun expert.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rose of Ashtabula; sons, Anthony Rose of Ashtabula and Mark (Margaret) Rose of Mentor; daughters, Gina Johnson of Ashtabula and Racquel Engoglia of Highland Heights; grandchildren, Michele Iarocci, Jennifer Pucci, John Engoglia, Dominic Engoglia and Hayley Rose; great-granddaughter, Charlie Pucci; sister, Cecelia Giannell of Ashtabula; and former son-in-law, Michael (Karen) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sal Rose, Anthony “Neno” Rose and Eugene “Hodgie” Rose; and a sister, Marian Lundi.
Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, May 20th, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula, with Deacon Richard Johnson, of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Monday, at the Funeral Home.
