ASHTABULA — Fred Eric Noss, age 77, of Plymouth Brown Road, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born March 30, 1936, in Youngstown, he was the son of Fred A. and Herta (Jahnke) Noss and graduated from Edgewood Senior High School Class of 1954.
A Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, he was honorably discharged in June of 1959. Fred retired from Reliance Electric after 30 years of service and previously worked seven years for National Distillers.
He married the love of his life, Alice (Corlew) Spring, on Feb. 14, 1971. A member of the Kingsville First Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, he also devoted countless hours of his time at Camp Koinonia. A strong-willed and, some would say, stubborn man, he was truly dedicated to any task to which he committed himself. Fred and Alice spent each day reading the Bible.
Fred was a wonderful craftsman, a certified welder, an apprentice electrician, and enjoyed woodworking, planting flowers and shrubs, and watching the birds off his back deck. Fred loved cooking, baking, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. A Godly man and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, and brother; he was devoted to his family.
Mr. Noss is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Alice Noss; six children, Yvonne (Gustavo) Ayala of Big Spring, Texas, Jeffrey (Patricia) Spring of North Kingsville, Garrett (Christine) Spring of Conneaut, Karen (Fred) Corlew of Millfield, Penni (John) Bergstrom of Stanton, Texas and John (Jodie) Spring of Jefferson; 15 grandchildren, Crystal, Joy, Jessie, Greg, Daniel, Cole, Derrick, Amber, Amy, Sierra, Josh, Boone, Alexandria, Corrinne and Savannah; 11 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Jaiden, Kyndall, Jevonte, Keigan, Jeraya, Marleigh, JaMiia, Alexis, Natalie and Hudson; and his sister, Shirley A. (Steve) Gehalo of Coral Spring, Fla. and their children, Steven III (Tina) Gehalo and Suzanne (Donald) Alden and their children.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Noss in infancy; and his parents.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 20th, and from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 21st, at Kingsville First Baptist Church, 6003 SR 193, Kingsville. A Service will follow at 12 Noon with the Rev. David Hines officiating.
