EDINBORO, Pa. — William G. "Bill" Sibbald Sr., age 76, of Edinboro, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Edinboro Manor.
Bill was born in Conneaut Ohio, a son of the late Thomas E. and Hilda "Betty" Christine (Anderson) Sibbald. After graduating from Conneaut High School in 1955, he enlisted in the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Knox and at Fliegerhorst Kaserne Airfield in Germany and served in the 3rd Armored Division.
Upon his discharge form the military, Bill returned to Conneaut and worked at RMI Titanium as an industrial electrician from June 1957, retiring in July of 1992. He also worked as a courier for PNC Bank and most recently worked for the Knox Law Firm in Erie on the support staff, retiring from there in July 2008.
Bill graduated from Penn State Behrend College in 1974 and was a member of the 3rd Armored Division Vets Association. He enjoyed genealogy and made two trips to Scotland in search of family history. Other favorite pastimes included riding his motorcycle, watching his grandchildren play sports, crossword puzzles and reading.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half brother, David Penttinen.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Sibbald of Maryland; his son, William G. Sibbald, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Edinboro; his four grandchildren, Emily Sibbald, Mikaela Sibbald, Joshua Sibbald and Ryan Sibbald; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at EDDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 309 Main St. East, Girard and attend Services there on Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Brian Kelly officiating.
