JEFFERSON — Garry A. Stones, age 68, of W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, died late Wednesday evening, March 19, 2014, at the Madison Healthcare Center where he had been a patient the past eight months.
He was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Sheffield, England, the son of Edward and Florence (Boot) Stones, coming to the United States in 1977 and moving to Jefferson from Chicago in 1980. Mr. Stones was married to Brenda Holmes on Oct. 26, 1968, in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England.
Mr. Stones worked in the steel industry all of his life, spending the last 20 years of his work at the Champion Steel Co. in Orwell before its closing. He enjoyed golf and soccer (English Football).
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; two children, Claudia Schwentker of Stafford, England and James E. Stones of Jefferson; and two grandsons, Justin Michael and Ryan Allen Schwentker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stephen Stones; and a step-brother, Peter Machin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Harbor Light Hospice and the staff at Madison Healthcare Center for their kindness and special caring the past eight months.
No services or calling hours will be held.
