ASHTABULA — Icy Lee (Hart) Thompson, age 75, of Ashtabula, Ohio, went home Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born Oct. 1, 1938, in Louisville, Miss., he was the son of Archie and Jurlean (Hopkins) Thompson. Icy married his wife Carrie Pearl Shields on Nov. 26 1960, in Louisville, Miss. They later moved to Ashtabula in 1966.
Icy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, hunting, and eating watermelon.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Carrie (Shields) Thompson; son, James Thompson; and daughters, Carol, Ruby, Darling and Becky Thompson, all of Ashtabula, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Christina Thompson of Ashtabula and Kim Thompson of Warren, Ohio; brothers, Arthur Thompson of Ashtabula, Elijha Thompson of Louisville, Miss. and Griffin Thompson of Ashtabula; sisters, Mary Richardson of Ashtabula, Jurlean House of Louisville, Miss. and Margaret Roberts of Jacksonville, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren that will love and miss him truly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Melvin Thompson; brother, Albert Thompson; and his sister, Martha Brooks.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, March 25th, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula. A Service will follow at 11 a.m.
