ORLANDO, Fla. — Phillip Charles Shannon, age 76, formerly of Conneaut, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Orlando, Fla.
He was born March 17, 1937, in Conneaut, and was the son of Howard and Beatrice (Hopkins) Shannon. Phillip was a graduate of Conneaut High School class of 1955 and became a very proud Marine. He married the love of his life Katherine (Campbell-Hockenberry) Shannon on Feb. 14, 1974, in which they just celebrated 40 wonderful years.
He retired from SCM after 30 years and moved to Fruitland Park, Fla. He and his wife traveled to all but one of the US States and a few countries. He enjoyed traveling, was an avid golfer, made many family treasures with his wood crafting, and enjoyed all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He never met a stranger, and always had a story to tell and everyone listened. He will be greatly missed, and he put a mark on all our lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine of Fruitland Park, Fla.; children, Kenneth C. (Kelly) Hockenberry II of Sacramento, Calif., Kimberly Pifer of Conneaut, Mark Shannon of Philadelphia, Pa., Kathy Tinker of Fruitland, Fla., Karla (Donald) Ransom of Conneaut, Kary (Joann) Hockenberry of Lakewood, Ohio, Coralie (Mark) Laughner of Erie, Pa., Sean Shannon of Mechanicsville, Va., and Ross Shannon of Dunnsville, Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Robert Colegrove; and many nephews and nieces.
