PAINESVILLE — Nancy Marie (nee Valerio) Sabatine went to join her husband James on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Nancy passed at LakeMed Nursing Home in Painesville.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1920, to Filemeno and Lucia (Zullo) Valerio in Ashtabula. Nancy married James on Sept. 15,1943. They recently celebrated 70 wonderful years together.
Nancy graduated from Lake Erie College in 1968. She was an Elementary/Special Ed teacher for 30 years, teaching at Mt. Carmel Elementary and the Ashtabula Area School System. Nancy was an amazing and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She loved to cook, bake and spend time with her family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Sabatine; and siblings, Dominic, Angelo, Charles, Peter, Anthony, Pam and Rose.
James N. Sabatine, born May 5, 1919, left this world to be in Heaven on Dec. 1, 2013, at Tri-Point Hospital in Concord.
James was born to Joseph and Asunta Sabatine in Ashtabula. He lived there for 76 years before moving to Mentor 18 years ago. He was a 4 year resident of LakeMed Nursing Home at the time of his death.
James was a veteran of WW II and spent 4 years in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.
James was a crane operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of Ashtabula American Legion, Dewey-Howlet Post 0103.
James was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He had a beautiful smile and a love for all.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carmel, Joseph, Angeline, William, Anita, Mary and Phillip.
James and Nancy are survived by their children, James J. Sabatine of Cleveland and Louanne Sabatine (Allan) Doerner of Painesville; grandchildren, Darci Sabatine (Anthony) Terlizzi of California, Andy (Naomi) Sabatine USAF Japan, Ashleigh and Ryan Doerner of Painesville Township; great-grandchildren, Cadence and Raigon Sabatine of Japan, and newborn, Alyssa Rose Terlizzi of California; sister-in-law, Elaine Valerio of Ashtabula; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Judy Boyer and Marie Loiacano.
