GENEVA — Beloved mother, Elizabeth N. Chapman, age 89, went to be her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
She was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Mexico, Mo., to Beverly Gilbert and Cliffie O. (Barley) Nichols, but lived most of her life in the Geneva area, where she married and raised her family.
She worked for True Temper in Geneva and later for the Geneva Area School District at Geneva Elementary where she acted as assistant librarian, playground supervisor and crossing guard. She loved children and tried to positively impact each one that she encountered until her retirement in 2003.
Our mother was a person of deep faith and possessed a true servants heart. She was a member of Assumption Church of Geneva for many years. Her kindness and generosity touched everyone she knew.
Survivors include her four children, Linda Beck of New Lexington, Ohio, Terri (Anders) Madson of Vista, Calif., Hap (Tracy) Chapman of Ashtabula and Beverly Chapman of LaCrescenta, Calif.; four granddaughters, Jennifer (Peter) Jones, Allison (Joe) Atoe, and Taylor and Nikki Chapman; two great-grandchildren, David Atoe and Lyla Jones; two sisters, Wynn Sanzotta of Geneva and Pat Westfall of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Chapman in February 1998; her parents; sisters, Darlene Pardee and Aletha Kopanski; and brothers, Bob, Chat and Glen Nichols.
A private family memorial will be held.
