GENEVA — Lucille “Lucy” Mracek, age 65, of Spencer Circle E., passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 18, 1947, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of the late John M. and Gladys (Pierce) Perkins. She graduated from Ashtabula High School and had been a lifelong area resident. On Feb. 14, 1981, she married the love of her life, Joseph F. Mracek Jr.
Lucy was a member of the First Community Church of God for many years, where she attended Bible study almost daily and taught Sunday School. For many years, she owned and operated J.J.’s Grocery Store on Broadway in Geneva with her husband, and more recently had worked at McDonald’s in Geneva for over 10 years.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Lucy also enjoyed volunteering, she volunteered her time at G.O. Ministry in Ashtabula, and also volunteered twice a week in her daughter-in-law’s class as Mrs. Mracek “1” at HNK Elementary School in Madison. In her leisure time, she enjoyed baking for her family and church family, camping, boating, and fishing. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family
Lucy is survived by her sons, Robert (Lydia) Thompson of Maiden, N.C., Victor Thompson of Geneva, Ken (Mary Ann) Mracek of Dorset and Kevin (Cherie) Mracek of Madison,; six grandchildren, Billy, Emily, Nick, Misty, Amy and Sara; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Robert Perkins, Marlene (Gene) Shaffer, Myrtle (Richard) Welker, Thomas Perkins and Evelyn Beeman, all of Ashtabula, Charles (Lydia) Perkins of Zephyr Hills, Fla., James (Anna) Perkins of Kingsville, Gerald Perkins and William (Cheryl) Perkins, both of Geneva, Cynthia Keyes of Conneaut, and Rebecca Jeffrey of Andover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Mracek Jr.; her brother, Timmer Perkins; and her parents.
A Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 20th, at First Community Church of God, 1910 S. Ridge Road West, with the Rev. Hal Morgan, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19th, at DUCRO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
