HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Delmar D. Cochran, age 81, of Hendersonville, Tenn., and formerly of Austinburg, Ohio, passed away at his home on March 23, 2013, in Hendersonville with his loving wife and daughter at his side.
Delmar was born Oct. 5, 1931, to the late Cordelia (Loucks) Cochran and Nelson Cochran. On April 20, 1963, he married Mabel (Offi) Cochran.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel; daughter, Tammy; and his “little buddy” grandson, Shawn Alan. Delmar is also survived by one brother, David; sister, Ruby Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Delmar was preceded in death by two sons, Shawn Anthony and Alan Marshall; and 11 brothers.
Delmar graduated from Marienville High School, Marienville, Pa. A Veteran, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1959. He served on the U.S.S. Oriskany and was in the Korean conflict.
Mr. Cochran retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers as a lifetime member. He was a supervisor for Trinidad Paving and Osborne, Inc.
He and his sons were active in Boy Scouts, Little League, Y-Indian Guides, and C.F. fundraisers.
Delmar never met a stranger; he was there to lend a helping hand to anyone. He loved his family, friends and fishing with his buddies. As a lifetime member of the VFW, he enjoyed visiting with friends at the Geneva Post. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday, August 10th, from 12 p.m., Noon, until 3 p.m. at the Geneva V.F.W. Post #6846, 76 Depot St., Geneva, Ohio.
