ASHTABULA — Willard “Bill” J. Morrow Jr., age 86, of South Ridge East, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Ashtabula, the son of Willard and Dessalene (Mosher) Morrow and had been a lifetime area resident. He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School and had served in the U.S. Army in the late 1940’s.
He was employed with Rockwell Brake for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He also owned the Dairy Barn in North Kingsville. Following his retirement, he spent much time at Meadowlake Farm and Sawmill in North Kingsville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula: BPOE #208; VFW Post #943; American Legion Post #103; the Ashtabula Moose; the Young Men’s Social Club; the Buckeye Drifters snowmobile club; the Happy Travelers and was the Head Chef of the Keal Hunting Camp Club in Pennsylvania for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, flying his plane and had also done a lot of socializing.
Surviving him are four children, Debra Morrow of Ashtabula, James “Jim” (Benita “Jayne”) Morrow of South Carolina, Barbara (Karl) Sterner of Burghill, Ohio and Sandra “Sandy” McCormack of North Kingsville; his companion, Nobuko Weeks of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Eric, Kelly, Mike, Karl and Mandy; and a great-granddaughter, Keira.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Morrow in 2009; and by a sister, Anne Marble.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Erie VA; the Ashtabula Veterans Clinic, County Neighbors Transport, Hospice of the Western Reserve, the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and DaVita Dialysis Center for all the care they gave Bill.
Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 12th, at First United Methodist Church, 4506 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Christine Bell officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville. American Legion-Dewey Howlett Post #103 will be conducting Military Rites.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 11th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
