KINGSVILLE — Henry J. Anderson, age 92, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Henry was born on Jan. 19, 1921, in Ashtabula. He was the son of Arthur and Mary (Misznik) Anderson. He married Dolores Allonardi on August 5, 1948, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
A Veteran, he entered the Merchant Marines in 1937 and sailed the Great Lakes. Henry served in the Unites States Army during World War II with the 2728th Engineer Equipment Company in Europe and the Pacific, exiting the service in 1946.
Henry worked at Nelson Machine Company while earning his GED and then became a United States Postal Carrier, retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed gardening, golfing and tinkering in his garage, where he always managed to make something out of nothing. He looked forward to spending time with his family and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Anderson; daughters, Karen (Dave) Colucci and Kelly Anderson; grandchildren, Dennis (Lisa) Colucci, Benjamin (Alice Herrick and daughter, Mackenzie) Colucci, Brian, Maggie and Kayla Pfouts; sisters, Dorothy Gagat and Esther Northrup; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert, Harry and Arthur Jr. Anderson; and sisters, Eleanor Volpone, Evelyn Welton and Anna Ribo.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish/ Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with Father Raymond Thomas presiding. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula, with Military Honors being conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard Team from Post #103.
Visitation will be on Friday evening, Sept. 27th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula.
