June E. Bieder

Star Beacon

CLEVELAND — June Ethel (Moore) Bieder, age 87, of Cherry Lane, Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic.

The daughter of William Earl and Ethel (Hardy) Moore, she was born in Oil City, Pa., on April 11, 1926, and had lived in Ashtabula most of her life. After graduating from Ashtabula High School in 1943 at age 16, she tried to join the Marines. “I may have looked old enough,” she said, “but they wrote from Cleveland to try again in 2 years. By that time I didn’t feel needed by them.”

She worked 15 years in accounting for East Ohio Gas Company and the Telephone Company. She then married Walter Laverne Bieder on Nov. 3, 1962, and returned to work later.

Through the years, June had attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and Prospect Presbyterian Church. She loved life, had a heart of gold always giving to others, and donated to numerous charities through the years.

She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and sewing, and made lots of clothes over the years for herself and family. An animal lover, she also had a love for the many stick shift convertibles she had through the years.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Scott (Shannon Pratschler) Bieder of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Theresa Mahle, Heidi Knowles, Stephen Bieder, Jennifer  Condo, Johnathan Bieder and Andrew Green; two great-grandchildren, Aiylah and Deegan; several nieces and nephews; and her “best friend” for the past 8 years, her cat “Lucky”.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Walter, who died in 1992; a sister, Shirley Burly; and her parents.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 20th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

A Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21st, at the Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3140 E. Center St. (SR 20), North Kingsville, Ohio. The Rev. Michael Legg, Pastor of Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will follow.

Contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
