ORWELL — Barbara E. Niznik, age 90, died at her home on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, under hospice care.

Born April 15, 1923, in Windbur, Pa., she was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Nagy) Buzash. Barbara was married to Edward J. Niznik on Sept. 2, 1943, in Cleveland.

She was employed by Ohio Bell of Cleveland as a Telephone Operator, Johnson Rubber of Middlefield, API of Chardon and retired from Grand Valley School System as a Bus Driver after 18 years of service.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Mary, Woman’s Auxiliary American Legion Unit 719 Orwell, 4-H Advisor, Girl Scout Assistant and bowled on the woman’s league at G.V. Lanes in Rome.

She enjoyed dancing, painting, swimming, sewing, gardening and traveling in the U.S. and Europe visiting Germany, Austria and Hungary, where her parents were originally from.

She is survived by four generations of family: Children, Barbara (Jim) Morningstar of Brighton, Mich., Earl (Audrey) Niznik of Orwell and Linda (Rick) Fasick of North Bloomfield; nine grandchildren, Justine (Tim) Dorantich of Newton Falls, Kimberly Sprague of Warren, Mark (Elyce) Almy of Findlay, Cheryl (Kelly) Boyle of Champion, Greg (Lori) Morningstar of Canton, Mich., Shelly Morningstar of Budd Lake, N.J., Keith Kingdom of North Bloomfield, Denise (Ezra) Warner of North Bloomfield and Christine (Michael) Hudak of Orwell; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Patricia A. Boyles; three sisters, Julia Hayden, Irene Ungvary and Mary Toth; two brothers, Steven and Joe Buzash; and a grandchild, Jodi Boyles.

A Funeral Mass celebrated by the Rev. John Madden will take place at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 103 N. Maple St., Orwell, Ohio 44076, on Tuesday, March 4th, at 10 a.m.

Visitation will be held at PAINE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 140 E. Main St., Orwell, Ohio 44076, on Monday, March 3rd, from 6 to 8 p.m., with an American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Service to be conducted at 7:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 719, 215 N. Maple St., Orwell, Ohio 44076. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
