TRUMBULL TOWNSHIP — Phylis A. Martin, age 76, of St. Rt. 534, Trumbull Township, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2014, at Geneva Village Retirement Community where she had been a patient the past month.
She was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Geneva, the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian (Amsden) Park and had been a Geneva area resident all of her life. She was a graduate of Geneva High School.
Phylis was a long time employee of Howard Johnson’s, working in both house keeping and as desk clerk. She enjoyed singing, playing the keyboards, gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald H. Martin; nine children, Mark W. Arnold of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Bradley K. (Wendy) Arnold of Geneva, Patrick J. (Kathy) Arnold of Harpersfield Township, Susan M. (Russ) Bright of Geneva, Keith (Lillian) Martin of Seattle, Wash., Jennifer J. (Robert) Johnson of Madison, Gerald J. (Kristie) Martin of Geneva, Glen R. (Penny) Martin of Des Moines, Iowa and Katherine I. (Gary) Vandevander of Clover, S.C.; 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Patricia) Park of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Willis; and a brother, Richard Park.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., at 103 Main St., Geneva (next to courthouse), with Alisa Nierzejewski, Certified Celebrant, leading a Service at 1 p.m.
