ASHTABULA — Jayne Louise Wallace went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the age of 88.
She was born April 10, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Dr. John and Virginia Bibby.
Jayne attended Pitt University where she was a staff photographer. She graduated in 1950 from Pitt after her college days were interrupted by a serious period of brain surgery, but she returned to school early on, displaying her capacity to be a “fighter”, a quality she possessed through her life. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Sociology.
Jayne came to the Ashtabula/Conneaut area in the 1920’s when her parents purchased a cottage on the shores of Lake Erie, just west of Conneaut where they spent the summers.
Jayne married Charles Wallace on May 30, 1953. They were married for 51 years. Charles passed in 2006.
Jayne began her successful career after attending Kent State University Ashtabula Campus and graduating from the First Class Realtor’s Institute Course. She was awarded the Real Estate of the year award in April 1981, when she was working for Harbor Realty. She also held the position of 2nd Vice President of the Ashtabula County Board of Realtors in 1981.
Jayne and Charles took several trips with Las Vegas being one of their favorite places. They were also avid pinochle players and hosted card parties at their home on Friday nights. Jayne continued playing pinochle the last 10 years she lived at Willowbrook Apartments.
Jayne had a quiet sense of humor and many friends.
We do not lose the ones we love, They only go before, Where there is everlasting life, Where sorrow is no more, And there the soul will always live, And peace is everywhere, We do not lose the ones we love, God takes them in HIS care.
