Lois Jean Stewart, age 76, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a long illness at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was a proud graduate of the 1955 class at Edgewood High School, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Keith, on June 23, 1956.
Lois worked as a long distance operator in her early years, but she had a special place in her heart for children of all ages. The children loved her for her easy smile, her infectious laugh and her gentle, caring manner.
Lois had a great love for travel and the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with her husband and family and they were able to enjoy many outdoor excursions all over the United States and the world.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Stewart, a son, Craig, both of Ashtabula; a daughter, Valerie Stewart Kikel, and mother, Sophia Langois, both of Madison; a brother, Ted Wigren of Branson, Mo.; son-in-law, Daniel Kikel of Harpersfield; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Stewart of Ashtabula; and her grandchildren, Mindi and Mollie Kikel, Daniel and Jessica Stewart, Jason, Jamie, Karli and Kalen Stewart; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Wigren; and her son, Rick.
