Rawley E. Ross Sr., age 77, of Woodman Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 31, 1936, in New Lyme, Ohio, the son of Erland and Mary (Popvich) Ross and had been a lifetime area resident. He married Marilyn Carano on Oct. 26, 1956.
Rawley drove truck for 32 years for AC Transport and Mitchell Transport. Following retirement from trucking, he managed Woodman Mobile Home Park. He was a member of Teamster Local #377.
In his spare time he loved to watch NASCAR and Westerns, especially with John Wayne in them. In his younger days he loved to ride his motorcycle and go to country and western shows. He also enjoyed the company of his dog “Andy” for fifteen years.
Surviving him are his wife of 57 years, Marilyn; and he was the loving father of seven children, Sharon (Mark) Goebel of Ashtabula, Christine (Daryl) Cruea of Geneva, Rawley (Beth) Ross Jr. of Ashtabula, Tina (Bill) Sayher of Ashtabula, Randy (Kristie) Ross of Chardon, Robin (Keith) Reams of Ashtabula and Dianne (Donald) Reed of Hawaii; he was the loving Papa of twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many family members in Hartsgrove.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elaine Warren; two grandchildren, Terri and Timothy; and nieces and cousins.
Private service will be held at the at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with Pastor Donald Reed officiating.
