JEFFERSON — Alan Robert Beckwith, age 64, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, Pa.

He was born June 26, 1948, in Ashtabula, the son of A. Robert and Leta Mae (Robinson) Beckwith and had been a lifelong area resident. A 1966 graduate of Jefferson High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Otterbein College in 1970.

He worked as a manager for the Jefferson Milling Company, the business he had been associated with since he was a young boy.

A gifted singer, he participated with the local groups Men of Praise, Cross-County Shoreliners, and the Town Choir. A member of the Kingsville Baptist  Church, he also sang in the church choir, served as a deacon, and was on the mission board.

He enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved his family dearly, receiving great joy in life in doing whatever he could for his children and grandchildren.

His survivors include his wife of 27 years, whom he married Dec. 15, 1985, Deborah (Hatch) Beckwith; three children, Joshua (Karen) Roderick, Adam (Stephanie Rollman) Beckwith and Megan Beckwith, all of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Emma Roderick, Savannah Rollman and Olivia Beckwith; one brother, Roger H. (Monica) Beckwith of Jefferson; and his in-laws, Duane and Mary Hatch of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling Hours will be at Kingsville First Baptist Church, 6003 SR 193, Kingsville, from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17th, and from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18th.

A Service will be held at the Church on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Hines, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Jefferson.
