ASHTABULA — Patricia Ann Giannell, age 78, continued the last leg of her life’s journey in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center on Thursday, July 18, 2013.
Born in New Brunswick, N.J. on Oct. 27, 1934, she was the only daughter of John and Marguerite Donahue.
Her early life was spent in Havana, Cuba, followed by living in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Miami, Fla., and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. She returned to Miami for her high school years and upon graduation worked as a designer and buyer for specialty shops in Coral Gables.
She married her beloved husband, Jim, on Jan. 27, 1960, in Miami. It was the beginning of 53 fabulous years spent together, living in Ft. Lauderdale, the Florida Keys, South Carolina and Ashtabula.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Brad (Kim) of Ashtabula and Andrea (Alan) Pollack of Aurora; three grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia of Aurora, and Colton of Kansas. Also surviving is a brother, John (Carol) of Florida; nephew, Gary Donahue of Florida; sister-in-law, Patti Thomas of Ashtabula; nephew, Brent (Katrina) Thomas of Kingsville; and a niece, Brooke (Rob) Fekken of Delaware. Additionally, great nieces, Aspen and Audrey; and great-nephews, Ben and Parker also survive.
At Patricia’s request, there will be no calling hours observed and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
