ASHTABULA — Edward S. Luta, age 89, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died Thursday afternoon, July 18, 2013, in the Hospice Unit at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Dec. 10, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of Anthony F. and Angella (Kopczynska) Luta.
An area resident since the 1960’s, Mr. Luta had previously worked at J & L Steel Company in Pittsburgh, Pa., and was a steward for the Conneaut Eagles Club for 20 years, then worked at Linde Wire, and TransPlastics. A Veteran, he had also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph Worship Center in Ashtabula, the American Legion, V.F.W. and Eagles.
He enjoyed his family, helping his neighbors by driving them to appointments, and playing the lottery.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Simons of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Cindy (Jerry) Lower of Monroe Township, Ohio; six grandchildren, Kelly McKinney, Michael Morrison, Christi Lower, Anthony Lemmo, Jay Lower and Katelyn Simons Combs; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Audrey Vanderbilt of Pittsburgh, Pa.; as well as nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Edward Luta Jr. and Rodney Luta; his wife, Lillian; and a number of siblings.
At Mr. Luta’s request, there will be no calling hours or services held. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut, Ohio, at the convenience of his family.
