Christopher M. Jaskela

CLEVELAND — Christopher Mathew Jaskela, age 36, of Madison, Ohio, went to his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Hospice House in Euclid, Ohio, with his loving and devoted mother at his side.

Born June 27, 1977, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of Mary Jo (Lyon) and Timothy Jaskela.

Chris enjoyed sport activities, beginning in his youth when he participated in the Mentor Youth Hockey League as a goalie for his team. As a teen, he played soccer, traveling to Europe as a member of Madison’s “British Tour 94” soccer team. Chris was a body building enthusiast spending many hours at the YMCA and Gold’s Gym.

A 1996 graduate of Madison High School, he enjoyed physically demanding work and was employed as a CNC machinist.

Chris loved the outdoors, fishing and hiking, but most of all he cherished spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Alexis, Andrew and Emma; mother, Mary Jo of Madison; uncles, David (Elizabeth) Lyon of Ashtabula, Joseph (Kay) Lyon, Steven (Wanda) Lyon, Jonathan (Sue) Lyon and Tom Jaskela, all of Florida; aunts, Judy (James) Myers and Joyce Jaskela of Ashtabula; and cousins, Jennifer (Mark) Adler, Amy Loveridge, David, Andrew, Amanda and Rachael, Lyon, Kyle Nathan, Devon, Siobhan, J.R., Brook, John and Stacy Jaskela.

He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy in 2012.

The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to all who have been praying for Christopher over the past 20 months. Special thanks go out to his caregivers at Cardinal Woods and Hospice House.

A Memorial Service will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 26th, at the Chapel at Stanton Park, 5585 Chapel Road in Madison. A Sunset Celebration of Christopher’s Life will immediately follow in the Banquet Hall at the park.

“God hath not promised skies always blue, flower-strewn pathways all our lives through, God hath not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. God hath not promised we shall not know toil and temptation, trouble and woe. He hath not told us we shall not bear many a burden, many a care. But God hath promised strength for the day, rest for the laborer, light for the way, grace for the trials, help from above unfailing sympathy, undying love.”

Arrangements are being handled by THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio 44057. Obituary and condolences at www.behmfuneral.com and starbeacon.com.
