CONNEAUT — Dorothy June Wheeler, age 76, of Gore Road, Conneaut, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at University Hospital after a long illness.
Dorothy was born Feb. 9, 1937, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Blanche (nee Kinnear) and Arthur L. Norton Sr. She married the love of her life, Paul J. Wheeler Sr. on Feb. 6, 1954. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Rowe High School.
She was a member of Amboy United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed her monthly get togethers with the birthday club, as well as playing Bingo and crafts. Most of all, she loved her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Paul J. Wheeler Sr.; children, Paul J. (Chris) Wheeler Jr. of Pittsburgh, Patricia A. Sharpe of Columbus, Karen A. Ring of Conneaut, Sandra D. Waters of Columbus, Pamala L. (Stephen) Gebe of Conneaut and Michael J. Wheeler of Columbus; brother, Arthur L. Norton Jr. of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Wheeler, Allison Pirc, Joshua and Joseph Sharpe, Herbert and Brian Waters, Melissa Smith and Stephen and Krystin Gebe; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9th, at Amboy United Methodist Church, 550 W. Main Road, Conneaut, with Pastor Mary Prior officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Sunday, Feb. 9th, from 1 p.m. until time of Services at 2 p.m. A memorial dinner will be held at the Church after the graveside committal services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family in care of THOMPSON-SMITH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 345 Main St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030, who has charge of arrangements. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
