JEFFERSON — Kathleen F. Parsons, age 87, of St. Rt. 307 East, Jefferson, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2014, at Jefferson Healthcare Center.

She was born July 31, 1926, in Nitro, W.Va., the daughter of William M. and Roena (Welker) Harmon and had lived in the Jefferson area since 1949 coming from Poca, W.Va. She was married to John F. Parsons on Sept. 18, 1944 in Charleston, W.Va.

Mrs. Parsons was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church and was involved in select right to life organizations.  She was devoted in her faith. She attended Morris Harvey University and received her teaching certificate and taught in one room school houses in West Virginia. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music and was an avid reader.

Survivors include 11 children, John F. (Becky) Parsons Jr. of Durham, Maine, Marilyn E. (Bucky) Campbell of N. Jackson, Patrick T. (Robin Cottrell) Parsons of Jefferson, Laura K. (Glenn) Rodgers of Pierpont Township, Joel M. (Bonnie) Parsons of Durham, Maine, Anne M. (David) Gecking of Ashtabula, Daniel M. Parsons of Jefferson, Charles M. (Jan) Parsons of Ashtabula, Eileen D. (Thomas) Gildersleeve of Mt. Vernon, Nicholas A. (Robin) Parsons of Sheffield Township and Steven P. (Sandy) Parsons of Macclenny, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1998; a son, James W. Parsons; and a grandson, Glenn E. Rodgers III.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Hospice of the Western Reserve and the nurses, aides and staff at Jefferson Healthcare Center.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. John Sheridan officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Calling Hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Calasanctius Church Building Fund at the above address or the Manna Food Pantry, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will be at the church. The Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson is handling arrangements.
