Anthony F. DiMare

ASHTABULA — Anthony F. DiMare passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Saybrook Landing Nursing Home.

Anthony (Farina) DiMare was born on Jan. 12, 1923, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to John and Eda (Davino) DiMare. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1940. He Served in the United States Army during WWII and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant with a Purple Heart for his service.

He retired from the United States Post Office with 31 years of Service. Farina was passionate about all sports but with Bowling being at the top of the list. He was inducted into the Ohio Bowling of Fame in 1991 in Columbus, Ohio. Two of his favorite past times were daily card games at the Ashtabula Elks Lodge where he was a life member and numerous trips to the Race Track.

Anthony is survived by his wife of 67 years, Josie (Penna) DiMare; two sons, Alan (Joyce) DiMare and Joel (Jeanine) DiMare; three grandchildren, Justin (Kathrine) DiMare, Jorena DiMare of Cuyahoga Falls and Joel DiMare Jr. of Painesville; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Molly, and Max DiMare of Cuyahoga Falls; one sister, Josephine Brown of Ashtabula; one sister-in-law, Sonja DiMare of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Jr. and Ralph DiMare; and two sisters, Mary Tulino and Rita Cimorell.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18th, in Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. (Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church). Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, with Military Honors being conducted by the Honor Guard Team from American Legion Post 103.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.

The Family would like to thank the following organizations who helped with the care of Farina; Personal Home Health Care, Hospice of Western Reserve and ACMC Rehab Dept.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Reserve or St. John School of Ashtabula, Ohio.
