PIERPONT — Janet Eileen Brockett, age 71, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of Robert and Rosemary (Haggerty) Belz, she was born on Jan. 6, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio. As a young child, she and her family moved to Williamsfield and she graduated from Pymatuning High School. On August 26, 1961, she married Eugene Brockett and together they celebrated nearly fifty-three years of love, laughter and memories.
Janet was a member of Pierpont Presbyterian Church where she was a past deacon.
Janet spent many years working side-by-side with her husband, Eugene on the family farm; she worked at A-Tech in the cafeteria where she enjoyed meeting the students and watching them learn and grow into wonderful young men and women. After their retirement, she and Eugene worked with at risk children in Trumbull County, they received great joy and satisfaction from helping them.
Janet loved to be involved with her family; from the family reunion clambakes, to the one day road trips with Eugene, she enjoyed it all. She and Eugene traveled to all fifty states and had a winter home in Sebring, Fla. While she was in Florida, she was the chairwoman for Ohio Days and the bake sales in her neighborhood.
Janet’s home was filled with love, gentleness and joy. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her strength and dignity, grace and gentleness during her illness.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Brockett; her beloved children, Ray (Rachel) Brockett of Pierpont, Debbie (Paul) Mascatelli of North Kingsville, and Paul (Sarah King) Brockett of Andover; 10 precious grandchildren, Todd, Tim, Matt, Cody, Katilyn, Kimberly, Ashley, Allison, Victoria, and Nichole; six much loved great-grandchildren; her sisters, Joan St. Marie of Warren and Judy Szerpinski of Orwell; and many loving nieces and nephews.
