ASHTABULA — Donald Lee Tietz, age 84, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 13, 2014, in the Hospice Unit of the Ashtabula County Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Andover, Ohio, the son of the late Rueben and Blanche (Coursen) Tietz. Don graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1948, where he excelled in Basketball. After high school, Don joined the Air Force and proudly served our country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
Don married the love of his life, Marjorie Elaine Campbell, on Nov. 7, 1960. He was a member of the Geneva VFW Post #6846, and the American Legion Post #103. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Tietz is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marjorie; sisters, Betty (Joe) Garoutte of Clearwater, Fla., and Carol (Ralph) Painter of Port Orange, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Glenetta) Campbell and Howard (Pauline) Campbell, both of Ashtabula; and sister-in-law, Bonnie (Dave) Howe of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At his request there will be no calling hours or services, cremation will take place. Inurnment will be at a later date at Edgewood Cemetery.
