ROCK CREEK — Donna Marie Wall, age 57, of Rock Creek, was called home into heavenly eternity on Monday, August 12, 2013, after a brief illness and courageous battle with cancer.

Born Feb. 22, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of Joseph A. and Margaret H. (Adams) Wall.

Donna was an avid reader and was passionate about her career as a librarian. She was the Assistant Director of the Ashtabula County District Library where she worked for the past 26 years. A true fighter, she loved the library, never gave up working even when receiving treatment for cancer. Donna obtained her Masters Degree in Library Science (1995) as well as over 300 hours of continuing education workshops, and received many certificates including Library Leadership Ohio, Basic Mediation Training, Notary Public as a result of her love of working in a library. She has served the library system in a number of positions: Library Assistant (Geneva Library), Children/Youth Services, Head of Circulation Services, Deputy Fiscal Officer, and Assistant Director.

She had served on many library and community committees, including President of the Northern Ohio Library Association (NOLA) Board of Trustees, Chair-Health Insurance Committee, Ashtabula County Literacy Coalition, ACCESS-Ashtabula County, Zonta Club, United Way of Ashtabula, Leadership Ashtabula (class of 2003), AAUW-Ashtabula (Secretary), Western Reserve Toastmasters (Secretary/Treasurer), Ohio Library Council (Library membership rep), member of the Ashtabula and Geneva Friends' of the library. Donna's contribution of her experience,  knowledge, and dedication has contributed significantly to the good of this library system and to the community.

Donna enjoyed cooking, sewing and had a love for nature especially traveling the landscape of Pennsylvania. 

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah M. Wall of Windsor; grandchildren, Braden and Jocelyn DeVan and Rayelle Howser; sister, Peggy Sue (Michael) Wall-Luis of North Pole, Alaska; brother, Richard J. Wall of Seattle, Wash.; and beloved cats, “Kitsie and Abby.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda L. Wall; and her beloved dogs, “Dobo and Trixie.”

In Donna's memory, please hug a loved one each day. She will be sadly missed by family, friends, community members, and the library community.

Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, August 15th, at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 16550 Rock Creek Road, Thompson, with Fr. Daniel Redmond presiding. Interment at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
