GENEVA — Aune M. Hummel, age 91, longtime Austinburg Township, Ohio, resident, died Monday morning, Dec. 2, 2013, at the Rae-Ann Geneva Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Geneva, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Middle River, Minn., the daughter of Isak and Matilda (Klamppu) Komssi. She grew up in Madison, Ohio, graduating from Madison High School, then lived most of her life in Austinburg Township. Mrs. Hummel was married to Philip W. Hummel on April 30, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Ohio.
Mrs. Hummel worked at Industrial Rayon early on, then gave up employment to be a homemaker and mother, then later went to work for Hart’s Egg Farm.
She is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; was a member of the Austinburg Garden Club; the Austinburg Township Park Committee; and was an Austinburg Country Days Elder with her husband, Philip. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and refinishing furniture.
Survivors include two children, Donna H. (James) Welker of Geneva and Kenneth W. (Denise) Hummel of Barneveld, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Andrew Philip and Jana Marie Hummel, both of Barneveld, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip in 2005; five brothers; and five sisters.
Private Family Services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Austinburg Township. No calling hours will be observed.
