NORTH KINGSVILLE — Thomas W. Bruening, age 84, of Linda Lane, North Kingsville, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the home of his daughter in North Kingsville.
He was born June 14, 1929, in Portage, Pa., the son of Henry and Ethel (Himes) Bruening and graduated from High School in 1947.
Following graduation from High school, he spent a year working with the FBI in the fingerprint division. Following that, he moved to Ashtabula, Ohio, to work with his father at Bruening Home Style Bakery. A Veteran, he joined the U.S. Army in 1949 and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan, at the headquarters of General MacArthur and worked in the Bakery. After his time in the service, he worked for various companies in Ashtabula and retired from the True Temper plant in Saybrook Township.
He is a member of the Edgewood Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where he was one of the founding members. He held various positions in the church including Sunday School Teacher and Elder.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, working out and most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving him are his wife, Norma (Erickson) Bruening, whom he married July 21, 1951; three daughters, Debra (David) Paxson of North Kingsville, Sharon (Tom) Bush of North Kingsville and Jill (Joseph) Thiel of Springfield, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Clint, Shane, Tom, Lisa, Ryan, Kristin and Michael; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Laura) Bruening of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Don, Robert and William Bruening; and three sisters, Ruth Benson, Ethel Hanig and Martha Riss.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS & CREMATORY, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with Pastor Joseph Thiel and Pastor Gary Russell CO-officiating. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling Hours will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service at the Funeral Home.
