CONNEAUT — Thomas A. Ferritto, age 67, a resident of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 14, 2013.

Born Dec. 25, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Tommaso and Adeline “Lena” (Frabotta) Ferritto. Tom was raised in Twinsburg, Ohio, graduating from Twinsburg High School in 1963. He has resided in Conneaut for the past six years. Thomas married the love of his life, Susan Blank, on July 30, 1983.

After 39 years of service, he retired from Chrysler in Twinsburg as a welder maintenance and repairman, journeyman in skilled trades, and a member of Local Union #122.

Tom was an outdoorsman; he and his wife loved to walk the woodland, riverside trails and sit on the porch watching the wildlife at their home. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking and fishing. He enjoyed several trips to the boundary waters and out west with his friends.

He was an accomplished gardener from childhood, providing all the vegetables for the family and always sharing with friends. His spare time was spent golfing, reading and tinkering. He was a talented craftsman, creating many unique items for their home. Tom and Susan designed and built two family homes with the help of friends and family. He loved to cook, especially sauce from his homegrown tomatoes and various meats prepared on the grill and smoker. He was also a lifetime blood donor, donating 88 gallons of blood over the years.

Tom was the most loving, patient and caring man you will ever meet. He was a devoted husband, father and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 30 years, Susan; daughter, Diane Elizabeth Ferritto, and son, Tom Ferritto, both of Akron, Ohio; his sister, Marcella (Ray) Diersing of Twinsburg, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Cinde (Charlie) Boles of South Carolina and Kathy (Clyde) Staub of Florida; brother-in-law, Chip (Sandy) Blank of Ashtabula; nieces and nephews, Julie, Betsy, Susan, Tom, Tim, Jason, Andy and Sara; and several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and countless close friends.
