Michael Francis Sawruk, age 58, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at UH Case Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio, in the comfort of his brother and sister.
The son of Walter and Anne (Strassburger), he was born in Lehigh County, Pa. on Oct. 27, 1955. After High School graduation, Mike received his Bachelor of Arts from Westminster College of New Wilmington, Pa. in 1977, and continued his studies at Widener University in Chester, Pa.
Mike enjoyed his career as a Human Resource Manager for several large corporations. He was currently employed with Cristal Global as the Human Resource Manager for the last fifteen years, a job in which he excelled and enjoyed. He was always about doing the right thing.
A man with a servant’s heart, Mike served on the boards of Ashtabula County Leadership, ACMC Foundation and GAPP.
Mike loved to golf. For the last ten plus years, Mike meticulously coordinated golf trips to Myrtle Beach for all of his buddies. The last one coordinated by Mike will go on without him in his honor.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Sawruk of Ashtabula; his beloved children, Jessica (Cliff) Askew of Parma, Caitlin Mackey of Sylvania and Peter Mackey of Marysville; two grandchildren, John and Matthew Askew of Parma; siblings, John (Mary) Sawruk of New Jersey, Robert Sawruk of Arizona, Greg Sawruk of Texas, and Marianne (Glenn) Marshall of New York; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anne Sawruk.
Mike was always a simple and reserved man; per his wishes, a private service will be held at a later date. The Rev. Douglas Rehberg will officiate.
