PIERPONT — Alan Lee Williams, age 52, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at UH Case Hospital in Cleveland.
The son of Alvin and Virginia (Skurnog) Williams, he was born on Dec. 3, 1961 in Ashtabula and had remained a life-long area resident.
Alan was a valuable and dedicated employee of ITW Bedford Wire for thirty-one years. He and his brothers-in-law Ken Davis and Will Henderson would travel together every day to work. Alan enjoyed his job and his fellow employees, who were like family to him.
Alan was a man of many interests. He enjoyed going to Raceway 7 driving race cars and watching his favorite drivers compete for the checkered flag. Alan was also very mechanically inclined and repaired his car and the cars of other drivers. A farmer, he liked to smell the new mown hay and when it was time to bale, he was the first on the tractor and the last person to be seen in the field. When he could arrange his schedule, Alan liked to go to Presque Isle or find his favorite fishing hole for a quiet afternoon. His fanatical support of the Steelers was unique and loud. Above all, Alan was a family man. He enjoyed his time with his wonderful daughters, his siblings and their children. As he and his daughters grew older their relationship deepened and became so special.
Alan will be remembered for his work ethic, his love of family and friends and his unwillingness to leave them. He was so determined to come home.
Alan is survived by his daughters, Megan (Joe Biedrycki) McCoy and Katelyn Williams, both of Conneaut; his siblings, Carl (Marilyn) Williams of Pierpont, Roger (Debbie) Williams of Willowick, Sharon Johnson and Karen Williams, both of Ashtabula, Carol Downing and her partner Becky Sasser of Leesburg, Fla., and Jim (Jackie) Whitbread, Tammy (Tim Mann) Stills and Tom (Crystal Peterson) Whitbread, all of Conneaut; his many loving nieces and nephews; and his forever friends whom he considered family, Edie and Don Stillman.
