AUSTINBURG — Janice Helen Pritchard, age 77, former resident of W. 54th St. in Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Janice was born May 13, 1936, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Woodrow Wilson and Helen Josephine (Grubham) Pettit and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1989, returning here from Anaheim, Calif.
After the death of her first husband of 28 years, James Vernon Miller in 1982, she married Walter F. Pritchard on Dec. 17, 1983, and they shared almost 30 years together.
Prior to her retirement, Janice worked as an Executive Secretary for 16 Real Estate offices in California. She also served as Treasurer for La Puente, Calif., City Council. She worked in home health in later years.
She taught CPR and was a past president of the American Cancer Society.
A true “social butterfly”, she loved to visit, eat out with friends, dance, and play Yahtzee and the card game Skip Bo. She also enjoyed traveling to Antique Shows.
Janice is survived by her loving children, Darcy (Bob) Jones and Tracey Morett, both of Jefferson, Stacey Wareh and James V. Miller II, both of Ashtabula and Jeannine Vicki Miller of Anaheim, Calif.; grandchildren, Bryan, Bobbilee, Denny, Cassie, Corey, Nathan, Paige, Summer, Matt and Kenny; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Olivia, Dominic, Austin, Kyrah, Alec, Caylie, Ale’anna and Chase; two step-children, Kathy (Boyd Briggs) Luckado and her daughter, Fallon Marie Luckado of New Orleans, La., and Walter “Wally” (Lori) Pritchard of Bellingham, Wash.; three sisters, Nancy Bailey and Cheryl Dodge of Austinburg and Bethann (Pete) Senacle of Washington, DC; and the love of her life, “Sugar”, a miniature long-haired Dachshund.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, James Vernon Miller; her second husband, Walter F. Pritchard; and her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 3001 North Bend Road, Ashtabula, on Saturday, April 12th, followed by a Celebration of Life Gathering until 6 p.m.
