DeLAND, Fla. —  Lawrence “Larry” Gerald Stohler, age 70, of DeLand, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Sharon, Pa., on March 25, 1942.

Larry worked as the supervisor of security at Halifax Medical Center and part time for the Daytona Beach Police Department. He was a member of Stetson Baptist Church in DeLand.

He loved watching NASCAR and his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Larry enjoyed ham radio especially talking on South Cars and Ambassadors for Christ.

He was predeceased by his brother, Virgil; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dora; son, Theodore “Ted” Stohler of Bunnell; daughters, Tammy (Scott) Saucier of Ormond Beach and Theresa (Bill) McLarnan of Ormond Beach; brother, Albert (Linda) Stohler of Holly Hill; 9 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A gathering of friends will be held Thursday, March 28th, from 4 to 5 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 5 p.m., at Stetson Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port, Orange, Fla. 32129 or to Stetson Baptist Church, 1025 W. Minnesota Ave. DeLand, Fla. 32720. ALLEN-SUMMERHILL FUNERAL HOME of DeLand, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
