GENEVA — Clara K. Brown, age 100, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Saybrook Landing.
She was born Nov. 11, 1913, in Okmulgee, Okla., the daughter of Michael John and Matilda (Lux) Burger.
Her secret to a long healthy life? Tomatoes.
A resident of Geneva for over 40 years, Brown was an active member of the Geneva Senior Center, the Democratic Party and National Organization of Women. She loved quilting, gardening and antiquing.
She is loved and missed by many.
“She was the strongest woman I have ever met. I will never forget the way she said, ‘I love you.’ She said it slow and she meant every word,” granddaughter Lauren Novak said.
Brown is survived by her children, Patricia (Harland) Sprinkle of Ashtabula, Ohio and William (Sherry) Brown of Portage, Ind.; grandchildren, Kathryn (Mark) Brandt of Rocky River, Ohio, Kelly Sprinkle (Todd) Runkle of Austin, Texas, Kristina (Tracy) Sprinkle of Ashtabula and Joseph (Sherry) Brown of Savannah, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Katie Schimmelpfennig of Gallatin, Tenn., Lauren (Michael) Novak of Kingsville, Ohio, Samantha Brown of Brunswick, Ohio, and Elyse and Eva Runkle of Austin, Texas; great-great-granddaughter, Quinn Novak of Kingsville, Ohio; sister, Loreta (Kenny) Richards of Atwater, Ohio; and step-grandchildren, Kathy Painter, James Probst and Howard Probst.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Brown in 1977; brothers, Charles, Henry and Michael; sister, Mary Kennedy; and step-daughter, Mary Jane Shumaker.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 5th, with a Calling Hour from 10 a.m. until time of Service at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, Ohio 44041.
